Victorians Alive workshop

Watch your step and stay close to your Victorian guide as you experience school life and investigate the lives of real Victorian people in Leeds. See where they lived, find out what they did for fun and discover the everyday health hazards they tried to avoid.
What will my students do in this session?
Students will experience a strict Victorian classroom and perform their own hands-on historical investigations into different personal histories. To finish the session, they will take a trip down Disease Street with a guide to see what life was really like in Victorian Leeds.
What will my students learn in this session?
- Students will draw comparisons and contrasts between everyday life in the Victorian period and today.
- Students will investigate personal histories, constructing a biography from a range of sources and objects.
- Students will be able to describe the conditions and health hazards encountered on a Victorian street.
