Brilliant Bones & Marvellous Muscles Workshop

In this interactive science workshop, students will go toe to toe with a model skeleton to explore how our bones and muscles support, protect and move us around. Get hands on with the museum’s unique medical collection and examine the technology that can help us look after our bones and muscles, or even replace them altogether.
What will my students do in this session?
Students will work together in small groups to identify parts of the human body. They will compare the human skeleton with other animals. Then, they will put their own skeletons and muscles to the test in a series of energetic games to observe how they work, before getting to grips with some of our artefacts.
What will my students learn in this session?
- Students will recognise key bones in the human body.
- They will explore the function of muscles such as the heart.
- Students will make observations and identify differences between human and animal skeletons, understanding how we can group living things together based on their characteristics.
