Legacies of our Medical Past workshop

Does history always move in a straight line? Is innovation always straightforward? This engaging talk uses the events of history to consider the past, present and future of medicine.

What will my students do in this session?

  • Students will engage with different objects to uncover developments in medical history, some well known and some hidden, to understand that the progress of history is not linear and knowledge is lost and gained over time.

  • This one-hour discussion debunks the myth that medical advances were continuous, and we are at the pinnacle of technology. The workshop takes a closer look at major moments in medicine that changed the course of history.
