Florence Nightingale workshop

What makes a good nurse? Join Florence Nightingale in this hands-on workshop and journey back in time to explore the foundations of nursing. Hear all about will Florence’s pioneering work, and experience what life might have been like in Scutari Hospital during the Crimean War.

What will my students do in this session?

To start the session, students will head to our ‘Who Cares’ gallery with Florence to explore our nursing uniforms and the nursing profession. They will hear the story of Florence Nightingale’s life, and her work during the Crimean War, before marching to our very own Scutari Hospital to lend Florence a hand – she needs their help caring for a wounded soldier! 

What will my students learn in this session?

  • Students will recount key events from the life of Florence Nightingale.
  • Students will recognise the actions Florence Nightingale took to reform hospitals during the Crimean War.
  • They will identify similarities and differences between nursing practices in the past and present.
