Celebrate with Thackray this Summer

We have a host of activity to get your whole family moving, playing, and discovering this summer as Thackray celebrates turning 25!

For everyone – Bones, Bodies & Beats

Our friends at Balbir Singh Dance Company are back for a series of dance workshops exploring bones, muscles and movement through the company’s unique blend of contemporary western dance and classical Indian Katha.

Discover the amazing ways medics tune into the sounds and movements going on inside our bodies, before creating your own piece of performance in a series of bespoke workshops.

Visiting our galleries? Dancers from the company will be animating our spaces throughout the first week of August.

For the Aspiring Medics – Heart Dissections for Families

Step into the shoes of a scalpel-wielding pathologist and dissect a real (non-human!) heart under the tutelage of our in-house expert.

Fancy joining in without the kids? We have Adult-only workshops too!

For the Budding Historians – Daily Talks and Tours

Join our team of medical aficionados on specially curated tours and talks of some of the fascinating objects that make up our collections.

From the development of artificial eyes to deadly Victorian ice-cream, these family-friendly sessions run throughout the holidays and are included with admission.

These activities are recommended for those aged 7 and up.

Have younger members of the family? Crawl through the digestive system and explore the senses in our Sparks! play area for children aged 5 and under. Open all through August, we recommend pre-booking to guarantee entry.
