Phoenix Dance Theatre Takes Over Thackray Museum for Free Harehills Performance

Find dance in the most surprising places! Whether it’s on the cobbles of our replica Victorian Disease Street or inside our operating theatre – this will be the Thackray Museum like you’ve never seen it before.

Throughout the afternoon, Phoenix’s professional company dancers will present pop-up performance excerpts from their latest international touring production, Requiem and an exclusive sneak preview of a new work currently in development.

For one day only, tickets to see this iconic dance group performance will be free with your standard museum ticket and completely free for all Harehills residents!

Who are Phoenix Dance Theatre?

Founded in the Chapeltown area of Leeds in 1981, Phoenix Dance Theatre is one of the UK’s leading contemporary dance companies. The company has since grown to be internationally respected for their artistic programmes which encapsulate the diverse spirit of multicultural Britain. Whilst it is known for touring nationally and internationally, it is important for the company to retain its position as one of the key cultural organisations right here in Leeds.

Phoenix Dance Theatre is incredibly proud of its roots and being born in Leeds. It believes that dance should be for everyone, it is committed to providing opportunities for local people to engage with, and experience, what it does. That is why Phoenix is brining performances and engagement opportunities into the community.
