Father Christmas has arrived at Thackray

Did you hear…? Father Christmas has had an accident. His first-aid kit has fallen off his sleigh and everything inside is missing! Thankfully, we had some families here at the weekend to help keep him safe and well on his journey around the world.

On Sat 3 Dec, we kicked off our festive merrymaking with ho-ho-ho! We were delighted to welcome Father Christmas and his elves to the museum. The friendly elves were there to help everyone find their way around the museum and collect the parts needed  for the sleigh. We explored, we laughed, we crafted. It was a great afternoon, but the highlight has got to be an audience with the man himself. Father Christmas found a comfy seat in our Apothecary Shop where he settled down to read a story for the little ones. It seems that the repairs are going to take a while so we won’t be going anywhere… until the 23rd when he’s got a very important job to do.

Until 23 Dec visitors can collect ingredients for Father Christmas whilst they make their way around the museum, stopping along for some winter crafting and photographs on the Thackray sleigh. The man himself will be there under the twinkly lights of the Apothecary Shop for some festive stories and a special gift to take home. Each 90 min session includes an activity trail around the museum, festive crafts, an audience with Father Christmas plus a gift for each child. There are still spaces left so be sure to book.
