During the First World War, the site of Thackray Museum was actually the East Leeds War Hospital. Join us for a tour exploring the experience of real soldiers sent here to be treated. Using photographs, poetry and historical objects, we will be hearing the first-hand stories of the wounded, their care and the outcome of their time at the war hospital.
The tour will be guided Thackray Museum’s Josh Ward – a member of staff with a keen interest in military history and ancestry. It will last 35-40 minutes, followed by 20 minutes for visitors to ask questions and view a range of First World War-related objects.
No pre-booking necessary, the talk is free with your museum ticket.
Talk time: 2pm
