Family Workshop: Silk Painting

Thu, 30 May 2024 - Fri, 31 May 2024 Various slots

To celebrate the good, the bad and the germy, unleash your inner artist with this workshop run by local textile artist Kayleigh Davis from Ocre Natural Dye Studio. Taking inspiration from our latest exhibition Fragile Microbiomes, nature, and Kayleigh’s own work, children will create their own microbiome masterpieces using natural dyes on silk.

We will create our own microbiome artworks on silk by mark making with natural pigments such as walnut, logwood, turmeric and cochineal. You will also learn how to create a dye pot using the pigments from the workshop activity. All materials will be provided, and we suggest wearing something you don’t mind getting a bit messy.

The sessions run on Thursday 30 May and Friday 31 May with bookable 45 minute slots throughout the day. Recommended for ages 5+. This activity is part of our Germs, Glorious Germs holiday activity.

Limited spaces, please book in advance – please note this event is only available to those with valid museum entry. When booking please ensure you have a valid annual pass for everyone attending, or choose ‘Museum Entry’ when booking to add a new one.
